Hello,

we’re Neuroqueer.

For people like us.

Our story.

Neuroqueer was started by an autistic guy named Dion who wanted to be supported by a place like Neuroqueer when he became an NDIS participant, but nothing existed.

He had also spent several years trying to navigate the neurotypical world of trying to find a job.

The NDIS became his new hyper-focus, and he founded Neuroqueer with two goals:

  • One: Create affirming support services that feel good to get support from, and are delivered by peers who have actual lived experience.

  • Two: Create a safe, affirming workplace for neurodivergent and LGBTQIASB+ people, where their differences are deeply valued.

Fast forward to now, Neuroqueer team members are providing feel-good support to people like us across the country every single day.

Our values.

  • We prioritise safety above everything else. Whether it’s safeguarding your personal information, respecting boundaries, or offering a supportive space to both you and Neuroqueer employees, we never compromise on physical, emotional or cyber safety.

  • Support should feel good, not like a chore. We're committed to affirming, personalised, fun support that honours your goals, preferences and identities.

  • We do the right thing, even when no one is watching.

Fair pay, ethical practices, transparency, and continuous improvement guide everything we do.

  • We value lived experience and see everyone we support as a peer. Our approach to supporting you and each other is inclusive, adaptable, and person-centred, driven by genuine empathy and understanding through direct lived experience.

Neurodiversity

For us, neurodiversity is an inclusive word that describes the experience of having a different way of experiencing the world because of how our brains work.

Sometimes that’s something we’re born with, like being Autistic, having ADHD, or learning and thinking differently. Other times, it’s shaped by what we’ve been through, like the lasting effects of trauma or a brain injury.

We honour all neurodivergent experiences, whether innate, acquired, diagnosed, or self-identified. All are valid, all belong, and you’re one of us.

Always was.
Always will be.

We live, work, play, and support each other on stolen land. Land where sovereignty was never ceded. Land that holds the strength and wisdom of the world’s oldest continuous living culture, thriving for over 65,000 years.

We acknowledge that First Nations peoples continue to face systemic injustice, inequality, and persistent, inexcusable gaps in health outcomes.

We honour and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the rightful custodians of this land.

LGBTIQIASB+

We use the LGBTQIASB+ acronym to acknowledge Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Aromantic, Agender, Sistergirl, and Brotherboy identities.

The + symbol represents the many other diverse sexualities, genders, and lived experiences not explicitly named, including Non-Binary people and others.
